WHAT TO EXPECT FROM THE TUTORING SERVICE: ------------------------------------------------------ [1] Very relaxed yet professional atmosphere. I do not allow stress during the learning process. [2] Students who are minors will be tutored in their own home with an adult in the house. Alternatively, minors can be tutored in my own apartment after one parent contacts my personal/professional reference (Ph.D. professor) AND both parent and student meet my long-term girlfriend (age 32, postdoctoral researcher at UC-Berkeley). [3] All students 18+ years old can receive tutoring/consultation anywhere (their apartment, my apartment, coffee shop, at the library, in a box with a fox, etc.) [4] Rates are negotiable, as necessary. Hourly rate is only applied to the time when I am actually making a direct contribution (normally during the time I meet with the client). I do NOT charge for the time that I use for preparation. For instance, if you need consultation about a scientific poster or a manuscript, I will first ask for the supporting materials (e.g. over email). Then, I research relevant background information or potential analyses. So, for the hourly rate, you buy my preparation time AND the one-on-one meeting time. [5] Poster design can be completed after one short meeting with client. Poster redesign should take approximately 48-72 hours after initial meeting. ABOUT ME: ------------------------------------------------------ [1] Age 34 [2] Married to postdoctoral researcher in conservation biology [3] Hobbies include fly-fishing, photography, painting, indoor rowing, and analyzing any data set I can get my hands on [4] ADD/ADHD friendly. [5] I'm very friendly and relaxed. [6] I grew up in southeast Georgia [7] I've held research posts at Harvard, Princeton, UMass-Amherst, and UC-Berkeley [8] I've lived in GA, MA, NJ, WA, CA, and the Republic of Panama (10 straight years of research there). I've also conducted research in Alaska (USA), Brazil, and the Galapagos Islands (Ecuador).
